OncologyDodd: HELP Committee To Release Reform Bill Within Days
An initial version of health reform legislation could be available "in the next several days," Sen. Chris Dodd, D-Conn., a senior member of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, told Dow Jones Newswires. Dodd added that another Democrat had presented ""four or five" different versions of a public plan Wednesday," but that the committee had not yet ironed out those controversial details (Yoest, 6/3).
The bill "will certainly include a federally run public plan that would provide health benefits in competition with private insurance," The Hill reports, though senators revealed few other details. "We"re going to show you a bill that we"ll go forward with - with the full understanding that that"s only one step in the process," Dodd told the paper (Young and Rushing, 6/3).
